As moms I think a lot of us have been “gigging” for a while–putting together jobs and projects “for now” as the kids get bigger and into schools, hoping that they’ll make some sort of sense on a resume. I was very interested to read Tina Brown’s post here, on The Daily Beast, that covers this “sweeping epidemic”.  

I personally think it will be interesting to see where this all shakes out as the economy inevitably improves–many of these companies that have not gone out of their way for employees may have to go back through the cycle of outrageous offers to get new people. In the meantime, it helps those looking for “gigs” if its more the norm for all.
